In the wake of the GVF fiasco, the local LGBTQ+ community understands the challenges they face in the local scene.
Despite this, they know how to navigate their lives subtly and coexist without drawing unwanted attention.

However, a new development occurred yesterday when a group of protestors representing the Ahmadi Muslims gathered outside SOGO KL, holding signs to show their support for the LGBTQ+ community.
Notably, one of the signs boldly read, "Gay people are not criminals, being gay is not a crime."
For those unfamiliar, the Ahmadiya religion consists of followers of the Ahmadiyya movement, a sect within Islam founded by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad in India during the late 19th century.
The movement considers itself a revivalist and reformist within Islam, with the goal of guiding Muslims back to the original teachings of Prophet Muhammad.
Ahmadi Muslims believe that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad was a divinely appointed reformer, known as the "Promised Messiah" and "Mahdi," destined to be the spiritual guide of the latter days.
This theological distinction sets Ahmadi Muslims apart from mainstream Islamic beliefs since they do not consider Mirza Ghulam Ahmad as a prophet or divinely appointed figure.
Due to these differences and perceived deviations from mainstream Islam, Ahmadi Muslims have faced persecution and discrimination in certain countries with a predominantly Muslim population.
Nevertheless, they continue to practice their faith and advocate for peace, tolerance, and interfaith dialogue.
