A video submitted by a reader has gone viral, showing a man recklessly jumping onto the Monorail Line tracks at Bukit Bintang station. The man, ignoring the danger, climbed from Platform 2 onto Platform 1. While it was initially believed that the incident caused delays to the monorail service, this has not been confirmed by authorities.
According to the witness who submitted the video, the train was approaching the station when the man made his way onto Platform 1. After climbing up, he was seen shouting and joking with a friend, seemingly indifferent to the risk. The witness clarified that they only saw part of the incident and did not have full details.
The incident reportedly took place around 10 PM on 24 September at the Bukit Bintang Monorail station.
He Was Stealing A Large Bag Of Clothing
Several netizens have shared their observations in the comment section, offering various accounts of the situation.
One user claimed that the man believed to be a foreigner, had stolen something, possibly a large bag of clothing, and was being chased by security. Another netizen also confirmed that the man was being pursued by mall security and had jumped over the ticket barriers to reach the monorail platform. Yet another individual revealed that the man was later apprehended near Fahrenheit Mall, suspected of stealing clothes.
Why Has The Door Remained Opened?
Amid the discussion, some users raised concerns about the safety of the platform. Several questioned whether the platform screen doors at the monorail station had been malfunctioning for some time. Many confirmed that the doors have been out of order, with some claiming the doors have been broken since 2022, while others alleged they've been in disrepair for over a decade.
Authorities are expected to investigate the incident and provide updates on both the suspect and the status of the monorail platform doors.
