Being in love is a rather exciting phase in one's life. To have someone to love and care for, and then have them do the same for you.
However, in this day and age, it would appear that more and more romantic relationships have begun to hit the gutter. Despite the fact that relationships take work, there are also certain simple things couples can do, as means to preserve a relationship.
For one, a few things each should avoid saying to each other.
#1 "You should know how I feel"
Let's be honest, no one can just 'know' how you feel. Communication is key in any relationship, whether it's nature may be of romance or not. Talk things out and express your emotions to one another. Don't expect the person to just 'know'.
#2 "Stop being so sensitive"
For the one millionth time, this line is by no means okay. Do not invalidate your partner's emotions and thoughts. Neither of you have control over it, so stop trying to exert control. Instead say "you feel very strongly about this, can you help me understand you better?"
#3 "If you really loved me, you would"
Putting your partner's love or feelings to the test, is never the right way to go about a relationship. They already love you, and they shouldn't have the need to prove that to you, or feel forced to do anything, they are not absolutely comfortable with.
#4 "I don't know what I would do without you/You complete me"
This may sound like a sweet line, but in all realness, you should be complete all on your own, without having someone else do it for you. You're your own person, and your partner should merely be an extension of who you are.
These are merely the baselines of any relationship, but nevertheless, it is important advice couples can and should take, for better, healthier and happier futures.
