This elderly man from Penang once made national headlines after showing up to USM PPV wearing a protective ensemble that‘d have easily been mistaken as a post-apocalyptic attire.
According to the frontliners who were present, the uncle once again came with a pocket full of cash, almost triple the amount he had given previously; to which they refused. Still, the uncle insisted that they take it from him. He said, "They put their lives at stake. The country needs them more than ever." Not only did he waited patiently in line for his turn, but he also declined any special treatment offered and even refused to take the priority lane.
This time, however, he made a slight change to his appearance— he brought along a long green cloth. At first, no one knew what it was for, but that question was answered immediately after the uncle sat down, preparing himself for the second and final dose of vaccine.
Turns out, he's afraid of the needles! This cheeky gesture had the whole hall laughing, "what a precious gem!", they must have thought.
USM couldn't bear to let him leave empty-handed, so they gifted him a sleek, black official USM t-shirt for him to take home, as a gesture of appreciation.
