Can't even get out of bed in the morning? Well, unlike us, an 80-year old grandma was more than ready to hike an 884-metre high mountain in Rembau, Negeri Sembilan!
And, she took just 2 hours to complete the hike. In fact, this is the fifth time that she reached the peak of Gunung Datuk, the tallest mountain of the district.
Siti Zaharah Abdullah first climbed up the mountain in 1958. Her previous attempt was about 20 years ago with her late husband, Hitam Sardi.
Surprisingly, the mother of 15 was only equipped with a set of gloves and white school shoes minus the socks. No, fancy hiking equipment like canes or boots!
Together with her daughter, 59-year old Esah Hitam, the grandmother began the hike at 2pm in the afternoon and reached the peak at 4.30pm.
Other passing hikers were astonished and concerned with the octogenarian's safety. They even offered her hiking canes, but she turned them down.
According to Siti, she preferred to 'leap' from one rock to the next without any canes or sticks.
Siti's secret to health is to avoid eating too much meat and cleaning her house daily. She's definitely an inspiration to all of us.
