Everyone wants to work in corporate and make a lot of money, especially if they are willing to deal with pressure.
But, this 26-year-old wasn't at all ready for it and never anticipated working under pressure with a lot of overtime and never having a social life outside of work.
I bet the majority of us can relate to it.
But eventually, the woman known as Wang decided to quit and tendered her resignation, vowing to never look back.
She didn't know where to start when considering her next course of action in terms of career, but she did know that she enjoyed cooking as a youngster.
She then reasoned, "Why not create a mixed rice business," and she finally followed through on that notion.
Now, at her restaurant, you can order an all-you-can-eat 12-dishes meal for 15 Yuan (RM9.70) for men and 12 Yuan (RM7.80) for women.
Even though she left a position where she may have received a sizable yearly pay and doesn't now have a stable income, she believes that she would rather do this than work for someone else.
Depending on how many customers she gets each day, her daily revenue can range from several hundred to several thousand, which might result in an annual income of up to 40k Yuan (RM25k).
Although making less money than she did previously, she claims that starting her own business has greatly improved her mental health. She also claims to have acquired more skills and knowledge.
As she controls her time now and declares that she won't work in corporate again in the future, she is not only content but also able to appreciate the simple things in life.
"I am very happy to leave the company. My everyday routine includes going grocery shopping, washing the produce, chopping it up, cooking it, and then doing the dishes. No longer have to discuss KPIs, or engage in small talk and persuade clients of how good the product is. Even though my body is physically exhausted, I'm in pretty happy."
After leaving her office job, she has undoubtedly discovered her purpose in life, which makes her happier.
Sure, starting from the beginning and running your own business is challenging, but the rewards are enormous.
