In an amusing yet frustrating turn of events, a durian trader's brief roadside nap on the Karak Highway attracted over ten wild monkeys to his truck, resulting in an impromptu durian feast.
The trader recounted the unusual incident. Around 5 PM, he was transporting approximately seven to eight baskets of premium Musang King durians from Kuala Lumpur to Bentong. He decided to take a short break near a lemang stall not far from the Gombak toll plaza on the Karak Highway. Little did he expect that the enticing aroma of the durians would draw a troop of monkeys.
"I had only been asleep for about 10 minutes when a passing lorry honked continuously beside my truck, waking me up. When I looked in the rearview mirror, I was stunned to see more than ten monkeys feasting on the durians at the back of my truck," he said.
Momentarily dumbfounded by the sight, the trader quickly grabbed his phone to capture the amusing scene of monkeys enjoying the durians. The Musang King durians were small, making it easy for the monkeys to pry them open. However, the larger durians proved too difficult for the monkeys to handle.
Despite the monkeys' relatively small size, their lack of fear made the trader hesitant to confront them directly. He opted to stay near his truck door, filming the monkeys from a safe distance. After about ten minutes, he decided it was time to leave. As soon as he started his engine, the monkeys scattered and fled.
The trader noted that in all his years transporting durians between Bentong and Kuala Lumpur during durian season, he had never encountered such an incident. This unexpected encounter with durian-loving monkeys was a first and took him completely by surprise.
