A crocodile hunting operation was launched in Batang Tatau following the attack and disappearance of six-year-old Cicilia Julan Intik, after she was dragged underwater while bathing by the river last week.
The joint operation had involved the Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC), Bomba and even PDRM, whereby hunters were able to capture not one, but two large crocodiles.
The two reptiles were believed to have measured at a whopping 5.18m and 5.29m, forcing authorities to deploy tugboats and even a crane to drag them ashore.
Following the capture, SFC personnel on standby began dissecting the crocodiles’ stomachs to search for the victim’s remains.
As for the findings, human teeth were discovered in only one of the reptiles’ stomachs, whereby samples will be further examined by the Department of Chemistry Malaysia.
We extend our deepest condolences to Cicilia’s family
It’s believed that hunting operations along the river will continue until October 7.
