Based on a viral TikTok, it would appear that finding groceries in Chicago is easier than one would think!
A TikToker showed how easy it was to find groceries in a Burmese store in Chicago, and netizens were amazed.
Chin Lan Asian Food Market is a Burmese grocery store in Chicago. She explains how its situated near the intersection of Western Avenue and Peterson Avenue on the North Side.
The grocery store is also near her work place so she dropped by to grab some shallots for her sambal sotong dish.
She also explains in the TikTok how many people think she has no access to Malaysian groceries and she just eats American food, but that isn’t a fact.
Her mum is also a talented cook, as well are other Malaysian Americans who live in Chicago, so she notes that she grew up surrounded with Malaysian food.
Chicago also happens to be a major city with a pretty sizeable Southeast Asian population, so getting Malaysian groceries in Chicago isn’t as challenging.
