Making Dalgona Coffee became a trend in Malaysia as well as globally during the beginning of the movement control order (MCO). Well, most probably because it can be prepared at home and is perfectly Instagrammable. Oh, and by making Dalgona Coffee, one can even have a heart-warming interaction with their grandparents at home.
Just like what this Singaporean did.
Emerson Gideon Ng invited his grandfather to drink ‘kopi’ and sat him down with the ingredients for Dalgona Coffee in front of him. The grandpa then mixed everything in and started to whisk the ingredients before the grandson told him that the process would take 10 minutes.
“So long?” The grandpa replied, a little bit surprised.

However, he continued to whisk it and even refused his granddaughter’s offer to help. At one point when the grandpa stopped for a while to rest, his granddaughter stepped in and finished the whisking process. He looked amused by the changed in color of the mixture.
After mixing the coffee mixture with milk, came the moment for him to try the coffee out.
The 91-year-old elderly man took one sip of the coffee but did not look impressed.
“Actually there’s not much taste,” he told his grandson with a laugh.
