Penampang: A mechanic died after being crushed at the back of a transport truck while repairing the heavy machinery's engine at Jalan Bundusan, here, this morning.
The 10.15am incident involved a 58-year-old male victim.
A spokesman for the Operations Center (PGO) of the Sabah Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) said they received an emergency call at 10.23am.
He said, upon arrival at the scene, the victim was still trapped in the engine part of the 10 ton lorry before the operation to remove the victim was carried out immediately.
"Once successfully removed, the victim was confirmed dead by the Malaysian Ministry of Health (MOH) team who were also present to assist at the scene," he said in a media statement, today.
According to him, the victim's body was handed over to the police for further action.
