A social media post about a local university lecturer's response to a student's request for an online class due to a water shortage in their dormitory has gone viral.
In the message, the lecturer allegedly said, "There's no need to shower, just come to class. You don't need to announce whether you've showered or not."
A student's sister had reached out to the lecturer for consideration of an online class due to the water supply disruption, which had been ongoing for some time.
However, the lecturer reportedly urged the students to attend classes in person despite the water shortage, stating that the campus had no water until the end of the semester.
The sister shared a video of someone attempting to turn on a tap, which showed no water coming out, and claimed that the students had filed a complaint, but received no response.
She also received messages from other students who claimed to have had to haul water up to the fourth floor and were also threatened by the university administration if any of the students tried to bring this issue up on social media.
Many netizens expressed anger at the lecturer's response, with some calling for action to be taken against those responsible for the water shortage.
