A tragic discovery was made outside a school in Tampoi, Johor Bahru, where the bodies of a woman and her 14-year-old daughter were found inside a parked car. The incident, which occurred on Thursday night (January 23), was reported to the police at 10:32 pm by members of the public who noticed something amiss.
The vehicle, a BMW, was still running when the pair was discovered unconscious. In an official statement released by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) in Johor yesterday (January 24), the deaths have been classified as sudden deaths, with no criminal elements involved.
The deceased, aged 44 and 14, were sent to Hospital Sultanah Aminah for post-mortem examinations. Early investigations suggest that a petrol leak in the cars engine caused condensation to seep into the air conditioning system, leading to the tragic outcome.
In a report by Berita Harian, North Johor District Chief Police, Balveer Singh, disclosed that the woman and her daughter had recently been shopping in the Bandar Baru Uda area. According to messages shared in a WhatsApp group, the victim mentioned feeling unwell and decided to stop at the location where the incident occurred.
"The victim, who lived in Bakar Batu and was a mother of three, had been out with her youngest child," Balveer Singh said.
The police have urged the public not to speculate on the matter while investigations continue.
