It is true that the coronavirus has taken countless lives across the globe. Yet, there is one other thing that may just be as deadly as the virus itself: rumors.
Weeks ago, there was news about people trying to ‘kill’ the virus in their bodies by drinking household disinfectants after listening to the words of their president, and had to go to the hospital. Today, it was reported that a five-month-old baby in the Dominican Republic died after she was given turtle blood that was supposed to ‘protect’ her from coronavirus.
The infant’s parents were told by a witch doctor that drinking the animal blood can help protect them from the virus. So, the whole family took the advice and did as recommended.

According to Sin Chew Daily, they were rushed to the hospital, poisoned. The baby girl died on arrival at the hospital.
Meanwhile, her parents and seven-year-old sister survived and are receiving treatment in the same hospital.
No matter how much we want our families to be safe from the virus, consuming a ‘remedy’ without scientific basis is definitely a NO. Instead, we should be listening to the doctors and experts’ advice.
