Despite the new wave of Omicron variant cases looming the nation, the Health Ministry has dismissed the rumours of an impending lockdown.
Speaking to the press today (Jan. 6), Khairy Jamaluddin implored that the government will instead implement necessary measures to curb the spread of the deadly virus. He also repeatedly emphasised that another lockdown will only deteriorate Malaysia's economic growth and the citizens' mental well-being.
Following the reopening of the country's borders, Khairy insists that they will remain opened. Instead of undergoing closure (the borders), the goverment is focusing on making calibrated efforts to deal with the current situation.
Let's just hope his statement doesn't come back to bite him (and even US) in the following months, eh?
