Another bomb attack incident involving a branch of KK Super Mart was reported early this morning in Sungai Isap, Kuantan, Pahang.
The District Police Chief of Kuantan, ACP Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu, stated that they received a report from the convenience store manager around 5:40 am.
According to the report, unidentified individuals threw Molotov cocktails, causing a fire at the entrance (carpet) of the convenience store.
During the incident, there were two store employees present, one female employee at the counter and a male employee arranging items on the shelves at the back.
Four display shelves in the premises, including merchandise, were damaged due to the fire.
The store had been operating for about two weeks, and investigators will review closed-circuit television footage for additional information on suspects and the sequence of events. Forensic teams have also been dispatched to gather evidence.
Wan Mohd Zahari did not rule out the possibility of the incident being related to the recent controversy over the sale of socks bearing the name of Allah at the same premises in the capital city.
He estimated the loss at RM500, and the investigation is being conducted under Section 435 of the Penal Code.
He also urged the public with any information regarding the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation.
Meanwhile, the Pahang Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson stated they received the report at 5:40 am.
Upon arrival, the fire was already under control by civilians using fire extinguishers. The fire department conducted a thorough inspection to ensure no further risks of fire.
The operation concluded around 6:10 am, with only 1% fire damage, not affecting the building structure or causing any casualties.
This marks the second attack on KK Mart branches following the controversy over the sale of socks containing the word Allah.
On March 26, a branch in Bidor, Perak, was targeted with a petrol bomb around 5 am. Fortunately, the bomb landed in an empty area in front of the store and did not detonate.
