A mother was shocked to discover that her son had paid a whopping RM144 for just two bottles of drinks and one pack of chocolates from a vending machine, labeling the prices as "outrageous."
The incident, captured in a video shared by social media user @mhmmdhsm, shows the mother and her children browsing near a vending machine. The son excitedly purchased two energy drinks and a pack of chocolates.
To her disbelief, the mother found out that each bottle of the energy drink was priced at RM89, but there was a buy-one-get-one-free offer. Additionally, the pack of chocolates cost RM55, making the total RM144. The funny part is that the free drink even got stuck in the machine and they had to get assistance to get it out!
While expressing her astonishment at the high prices, the mother couldn't comprehend why her son and other children were so keen on these specific branded items. Despite her vocal objections to the prices, she allowed her son to proceed with the purchase, a decision that left many netizens puzzled.

Online reactions ranged from surprise at the exorbitant costs to questioning the value of such purchases. Many pointed out that similar products were heavily discounted or on clearance in American convenience stores, contrasting sharply with the Malaysian vending machine prices.
The energy drink in question, PRIME, gained popularity globally after being endorsed by prominent influencers like Logan Paul and KSI. Similarly, the Feastables chocolates, promoted by Mr. Beast, enjoyed immense popularity among teenagers and children worldwide.
Critics online noted that these products, which have lost their novelty in the United States and are often sold at clearance prices there, were being sold at significantly inflated rates in Malaysian vending machines.
