If you live in Malaysia, chances are you have a Touch n Go card tucked away in your wallet. Its the go-to contactless smart card for tolls, public transport, and even some retail payments. While most of us swipe and go without a second thought, did you know that if your card expires, gets stolen, or stops working, you can actually get a refund on the remaining balance?
Yes, you read that right! Your hard-earned money doesn't have to disappear into the abyss. The process is simpler than you think, and here's exactly how you can claim your refund.
Step 1: Register Your Touch n Go Card
Before you can even think about refunds, your Touch n Go card must be registered under your online Touch n Go account. And no, this is not the same as your Touch n Go eWallet or RFID account it's a separate registration altogether.
To register:
Visit the Touch n Go card portal.
Navigate to the Cards & Charms submenu.
Select Add Card(s) and Charm(s).
Enter your Touch n Go card's serial number (found on the back of the card).
Once your card is registered, you're all set to request a refund if needed!
Step 2: Requesting a Refund
Now that your card is linked to your account, it's time to claim your refund. Head to the Refunds submenu and select Refund Request. There are three types of refund requests, but for this guide, we'll focus on Card Termination, which covers:
Voluntary Termination You no longer need or use the card.
Lost Your card has gone missing.
Stolen Your card was stolen (refund amount based on balance at the time of report).
Dormant No transactions for over 12 consecutive months.
Faulty/Bad Chip Card is malfunctioning due to technical issues.
Expired Your card has reached its expiration date.
Choose the reason that best applies to your situation, provide any additional remarks if necessary, and proceed to the next step.
Step 3: Choose Where Your Refund Goes
You have three options for where the refunded balance will be credited:
Bank Account: Make sure the name on your bank account matches the one on your Touch n Go card account.
DuitNow: Any DuitNow account is eligible, even if it doesn't match your Touch n Go card name (just ensure the details are correct!).
Touch n Go eWallet: Simply enter the mobile number linked to your eWallet.
Tick the agreement box, hit submit, and you're good to go!
How Long Will It Take?
Once you submit your refund request, Touch n Go will process it within:
Up to 14 days for standard refunds.
Up to 30 days for more complex cases.
You'll receive an email update once the refund is approved.
Don't let your unused Touch n Go balance go to waste! Whether your card is expired, lost, or faulty, you can get your money back with just a few simple steps. So, if you've been holding onto an old card, now's the time to cash it in!
