Are all moisturizers the same? Not really! So how should you choose the best one for you? Follow the tips below to find the one for you! 

1. Examine Your Skin Type

Is your skin dry, oily, sensitive, normal or a combination of these? Think of the answers to this question because it would help you to find the right moisturizer for your skin. Different products are catered for different types of skin.

Oil-free moisturizers are suitable for oily skin because it can reduce oil production and keep the skin hydrated. A light and non-greasy moisturizer is fit for normal skin. On the other hand, a heavier and creamier moisturizer is suitable for dry skin because it can retain moisture.

2. Examine Its Scent

3. Apply SPF

Moisturizers should contain a sunscreen of SPF 15 or above to protect the skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays.

4. Read Products' Labels

 “Allergy tested” (less likely to cause allergic reactions) and “non-comedogenic” (less likely to clog pores) labels are useful guides for people when they are choosing a moisturizer. Remember to read through the ingredients contained in the moisturizer as well.

Examples of good ingredients are glycerin, hyaluronic acid, and humectants. Glycerin and humectants have the same function, which is to keep the skin hydrated. On the other hand, hyaluronic acid allows fast and effective hydrating. 


It is difficult to find a perfect moisturizer and most of the time, consumers need to have some trial-and-error to determine which moisturizer works well for themselves. With these 4 easy steps, you can easily find the perfect moisturizer for yourself with lesser trial-and-error than other people might have.
