Drop your beret & that fake Parisian accent, girl! They don't even do it in France anymore. Here are 5 top fashion crime you shouldn't commit when it comes to real French couture.

1- Berets Are Overrated!

Blame Emily in Paris for this! It's this whole American stereotype that French girls never leave their house without a fluffy, red beret.

FALSE! Most- if not all- don't sport that type of hat in the streets. Even if they needed a headwear, they'll probably go with a wool fedora or wide-brimmed hat. 

2- No Blowing Scarf

Picture a femme fatale in downtown Lyon around early 2021. She's classy, modern & definitely NOT clad in a silk scarf, blowing in the chilly breeze.

It's not at all a tacky item to have in the closet. But, I don't think the busy queen-bee that hustles 24/7 will see it as a practical accessory! At least, not in her daily routine. 

3- What Chanel?

You might think that every Parisian girl must own a Chanel, Givenchy or Dior. Truth be told, NOPE! They wish they do, though!

The girls most certainly don't hang out at cafés, clad from head to toe in designer brands. They live on a budget too, believe it or not. 

So, they opt for cheaper names like Longchamp, Lancel, Gerard Darel & Sezane. 

4- You're Not A Sailor

In 1917, Coco Chanel made striped top or 'marinière' the "It" item of France. Now, read that again!

It's cool to keep the over 100-year old style alive till today. We've all got our favourite, classic striped shirt in the closet. Just don't pair it with your beret & scarf. That screams CRINGE! 

Tip: A basic denim & a pair of white sneakers completes your chic OOTD way better.

5- Drop The Basket

Nobody actually carries around a straw basket bag for class, work, or dates. It's just too bulky & awkward. Plus, in France today, they use it as a storage for groceries & flowers.
