Malaysians have quite the reputation when it comes to going to the extreme for an online cause. Just a week ago, these online armies, or “Tentera Bawang" as they are referred to in local slang, were heavily criticized nationwide for harassing Ukrainian Paralympian Maksym Koval after he was given the gold medal in place of Paralympic athlete Ziyad Zolkefli over technicality issues.
This time, however, Malaysians have earned their redemption after a group of them swarmed Greek Paralympian Thanasis Prodromou's Instagram with lovely messages after his display of sportsmanship at the Paralympics.
Champion !!! Latif Romly berjaya membawa EMAS untuk Malaysia walaupun lompatan kelima Latif mengalami kecederaan, diharapkan tiada kecederaan serius menimpa dirinya #sokongmalaysia #ganbattemalaysia pic.twitter.com/Q19JFnqpRm

When Abdul Latif Romly couldn't get back up after his jump, evidently wincing in pain, Prodromou rushed immediately to his rescue ahead of the paramedics to check on his condition. Even after Romly was already being tended to by the professionals, the caring Paralympian stood by his side, with a concerned look, brushing off the sands of his arm and hair. That little moment of pure kindness melted hearts worldwide and Prodromou became an adoration overnight.
He even made a dedicated Instagram story to Malaysians for flooding his posts with such lovely comments.
Congratulations to our beloved Paralympian Abdul Latif Ramly for that record-breaking win and also to Thanasis Prodromou; a living testament that kindness is indeed one's true legacy.
Truly a moment for the books.
