Chinese New Year 2022 SOPs Have Just Been Released! | All You Need To Know:

Attention, folks! The National Unity Ministry has issued updated Chinese New Year SOPs for the year 2022, and don't worry: they come with fewer restrictions this year compared to the previous.

- House visitation among family and friends is allowed throughout the Chinese New Year festivities from January 31st - February 15th

- Formal CNY banquets allowed at 50% capacity of event space, with all visitors required to be fully vaccinated (2 doses minimum)

- No limits on the number of family members allowed to attend reunion dinners on January 31st

- Lion, dragon dance troupes subjected to restrictions such as masks and physical distancing

- Devotees are allowed to visit temples and perform prayers on February 1st, 2nd, and 15th 

- Ceremonies for Bai Tian Gong (praying to the Jade Emperor) on 8th and 9th February

These CNY SOPs were announced by the transport minister Wee Ka Siong at a press conference, in which he addressed that last year's CNY celebration had to be toned down due to COVID-19, and even though those restrictions have been lifted partially, he urges the public to comply with the SOPs to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
