Looks like we won't be seeing Will Smith attending the Oscars for the next 10 YEARS!
As quoted by David Rubin (Academy President) and Dawn Hudson (CEO) on Friday: "The Board has decided, for a period of 10 years from April 8, 2022, Mr. Smith shall not be permitted to attend any Academy events or programs, in person or virtually, including but not limited to the Academy Awards."
The decision was reached following the actor's shocking on-stage altercation towards Chris Rock during the Oscars on Mar. 28.
The live broadcast saw Smith brazenly walking on stage shortly after Rock's monologue, before SLAPPING the comedian in a fit of anger. The incident was later dubbed "the slap heard around the world."
Rock had jokingly made a "G.I. Jane" reference on Jada Pinkett Smith's shaved head, which later infuriated Mr. Smith. It was reported that Rock wasn't aware of Jada's Alopecia prior to making the joke.
