A recent graduate from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) has successfully obtained a lucrative monthly salary of RM11,000 after being accepted by the international company Maersk Omnichannel Fulfilment, based in Singapore, sparking lively discussions among netizens.
This local individual, Wong, from Selangor, completed her Bachelor's degree in Business Administration (Logistics and Transportation) at the government university UUM with a GPA of 3.84. She was then hired as a Global Management Trainee by a Danish multinational logistics company based in Singapore.
As reported by "Guang Ming Daily," another outstanding graduate, Ahmad Afiq Iqmal Ahmad Said, is currently working as a "People and Change Associate" at Klynveld Peat Marwick Goerdeler (KPMG) in Pahang, with a starting salary of nearly RM 5000. KPMG is also one of the global "Big Four" accounting firms, specializing in providing global auditing, taxation, and consulting services.
Netizens have varying opinions on this matter. Some believe that RM 11,000 (approximately 3,208 SGD) is an average entry-level salary for graduates in the Singapore job market, and considering the higher cost of living in Singapore, this salary seems reasonable to them. On the other hand, Malaysian graduates starting with a salary of RM 5,000 are already considered quite high compared to other graduates.
