In life, everyone has their own fears and phobias. Some fear animals, heights, and blood to the extent that it triggers panic attacks. Recently, through TikTok, a girl shared her experience of experiencing anxiety after being trapped alone in an elevator.
Her story unfolds during her commute to work from her apartment in Subang Jaya. While descending, the elevator shook and got stuck on the second floor of the building.
This incident caused her to panic, trembling with fear inside the confined space. "I was shaking and panicking. The first thing I did was call my parents before contacting the fire department. Even then, the line was sometimes there, sometimes not."
She also repeatedly pressed the emergency button, fearing that the elevator might suddenly fall. As a precaution, she placed her handbag on her head. She mentioned that she was trapped in the elevator for almost an hour while rescue efforts were underway by the building security, her father, and the fire department. However, she fainted due to extreme distress.
"After almost an hour, I fainted and was taken to the clinic for treatment. I lacked oxygen in the elevator and was extremely shocked."
After being rescued, she felt relieved, although she was diagnosed with anxiety after receiving treatment at the clinic. "Before this, I refused to believe I had anxiety. But I knew I had 'that thing' because my hands always shake when I'm scared."
