A motorcyclist narrowly escaped death after being struck by a rogue lorry tyre while riding on a busy road. The terrifying incident occurred around 11:46 a.m. yesterday at the Taman Bukit Seputeh junction, near the Mid Valley shopping center.
The accident was captured on a dashcam belonging to a driver who was behind the motorcyclist at the time. The dashcam owner, Mohd Zulhelmie Zullifan, reported the incident to the police, along with the lorry driver.
Describing the event, Mohd Zulhelmie said, At around 11:46 a.m., I was driving behind the motorcycle while the lorry was ahead. Suddenly, the front tyre of the lorry came loose, flew off, and hit the road divider on the left. The tyre then rebounded and struck the motorcyclist, causing him to fall. The tyre even landed on the bonnet of my car.
He continued, I saw the motorcyclist lying on the road, so I stopped ahead and went back to check on him. The whole situation was frightening. I was worried about running over him, but when I avoided him, I became scared because the tyre had landed on my car. After pulling over to the side, I was deeply concerned for the motorcyclist because I witnessed the impact firsthand and it looked severe.

Mohd Zulhelmie immediately called for an ambulance. "While I was on the phone with emergency services, they advised me not to let the victim move too much, but he insisted on getting up. He then asked us to find his glasses, which we luckily found on the road."
Fortunately, the motorcyclist survived the ordeal but sustained head injuries. When the first responders from DBKL arrived, they checked him and said his injuries were not serious. He didnt appear to be bleeding heavily, just a minor head wound. His mobile phone was intact, but we couldnt contact his family because it wouldnt turn on. After about 45 minutes, the ambulance arrived and took him to the hospital. The lorry driver and I then went to the police station to file a report.
Earlier, a video of the incident went viral on social media, showing the moment the tyre, believed to belong to a heavy vehicle, suddenly flew towards the motorcyclist in the middle lane. The impact caused the rider to be thrown onto the road, and his motorcycle spun several times.
