A sales company clerk was fined a total of RM4,500 by the Magistrate's Court today after pleading guilty to possessing videos, pictures, and other p*rnographic material in his mobile phone in March last year.
26-year-old Asyraf Hafizuddin Abdul Jalil, from Arau, Perlis pleaded guilty after the charge was read to him in front of Magistrate Kamaliza Md Zain.
Based on the charge sheet, Ashraf was alleged to have been in the possession of 80 p*rnographic pictures, 163 p*rnographic videos, and one p*rnographic file in PDF format on his mobile phone.
Ashraf, in his appeal, asked the court to give him a lighter fine as he had repented and regretted his act. Apart from that, he also mentioned he had just gotten married and recently acquired a job with a salary of around RM1,000 a month, and that he now currently lives with his mentally-ill mother in law who requires constant care.
He was then punished with a fine of RM4,500 or 12 months in jail should he fail to pay, which he did.
