KOTA KINABALU: One person was arrested while seven others are still on the hunt following a fight at an entertainment center in Cyber City, on October 20.
In the 3 a.m. incident, two19 -year-old teens were beaten up by eight men who were said to be in a drunken state.
Kota Kinabalu District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaidi Abdullah, said the initial investigation found that the two victims who worked as food deliverymen were beaten with helmets and belts.
“The fight took place outside the entertainment premises when eight suspects pulled a victim and hit him.
"The incident was noticed by the victim's friend who then tried to help but he was also beaten by a group of suspects," he said in a statement today.
Mohd Zaidi said the fight ended when the two victims were assisted by members of the public who were at the scene.
Mohd Zaidi said the two victims were treated at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital (HQEII) but were only treated as outpatients.
In this regard, Mohd Zaidi said, the inspection at the entertainment center premises was carried out the next day. A total of 10 compounds were issued to customers as well as premises owners after being found guilty.
