KLANG – A man allegedly mollested his six-year-old stepdaughter and was was arrested at his house around Taman Sri Andalas here yesterday.
The arrest of the 30-year-old suspect was made at about 8pm after the girl informed her biological father about the incident.
South Klang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Cha Hoong Fong said, based on the initial investigation, it was found that the incident was said to have happened at 12 noon last Monday in a room in the house.
He said the victim was molested after returning from the nursery and during the incident only the victim and the suspect were in the house.
"The suspect is said to have touched the child's genitals before the victim acted to inform the incident to his biological father.
"We received the police report and later managed to detain the suspect at his house at 8 last night," he said at a press conference today.
He added that the results of the investigation found that the victim's mother and the suspect had just gotten married in early January.
Hoong Fong said the victim was taken care of in turns by his biological mother and father.
“Further investigations are still underway whether this is the first time the suspect has acted in such a manner against the victim.
"We have obtained a remand order for six days against the suspect and the case is currently being investigated in accordance with Section 14 (a) of the Sexual Offenses Against Children Act 2017," he explained.
