Lizzo Backtracks Ableist Slur In "GRRRLS" Song After Getting The Heat From Fans

Singer/rapper Lizzo recently came under fire following the release of her new single "GRRRLS" which incorporated an ableist slur.

Disability advocates particularly weren't happy upon hearing the song's beginning lines which had the term "spaz" in it.  For those who don't know, the term refers to a disability that restricts people's ability to control their muscles (especially in their arms and legs).

The singer then garnered backlash over the derogatory choice of wording as it was branded insensitive. One fan even took to Twitter to vent her disappointment towards the singer:

Following the controversy, Lizzo has since re-released a new version of the track.
