Joey Mah, (@mr_darcy) who was only 38 years old, had built a name for himself in the F&B industry and left behind four successful café businesses. The coffee entrepreneur began his career as a journalist making his detour into the F&B industry rather unexpected.
However, his passion for food and coffee has driven him to learn more about it, making the shift for him an easy one. Some of you may recognize him as the friendly guy who always makes you feel at home. While for others, he was family.
His most recent business endeavor was opening @doudou_bake with his partner, Keith Koay. It's the well-known bakery in SS4, Kelana Jaya, that is popular for its freshly baked pastries and roasted coffee, both of which sell out in a matter of minutes.
In addition to the well-known Dou Dou Bake that we all enjoy, he also owns Three Little Birds, Artisan Roastery, Murky Wines, and other businesses. According to what we know about him, Joey loves building an environment where people can enjoy good food and coffee in a tranquil, welcoming environment. He and his partner undoubtedly overcame the challenges and made it through the pandemic despite starting the business then.
Joey has unquestionably committed his life to coffee as we all know. He even reached the point in his life when he and one of his partners traveled all the way to a farm in Brazil to obtain beans for their brand-new coffee roaster at the time. It, coincidentally, led to their investment of around RM 500,000 in imports to Malaysia.
The coffee entrepreneur was also included in Prestige's 40 Under 40 segment, which undoubtedly represents one of his career's apex moments.
Joey Mah, you will be missed.
Rest in flavour, Dear Sir Coffee Connoisseur!
