A 24-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting his 29-year-old girlfriend and being involved in drug-related activities.
Iskandar Puteri District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner M Kumarasan, revealed in a press conference that the police received a report from the victim on December 27. She claimed that on December 21, at approximately 3:30 PM, her boyfriend attacked her at a house in Bandar Selesa Jaya, Skudai.
According to the victim, the suspect splashed hot oil on her and struck her with a phone charging cable during the assault. The couple had been in a relationship for a year.
Following the report, the Criminal Investigation Division from the Iskandar Puteri District Police Headquarters (IPD) detained the suspect, who is a local man with two prior criminal records.
"A urine test conducted on the suspect showed that he tested positive for drugs, and investigations suggest he is also involved in drug trafficking," said Kumarasan.
The police seized several items during the arrest, including a mobile phone, a white charging cable, a black backpack, two clear plastic packets containing what is believed to be heroin (65.7 grams), and a packet of cannabis (15.9 grams).
The suspect was charged in the Johor Bahru Sessions Court on January 3 with three offences under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt, and Sections 39B and 6 of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug-related offences. The case was set to be mentioned again on March 4.
