A 20-year-old storekeeper, Muhamad Nurhaqimi Harun, found himself facing legal consequences after a misunderstanding with his girlfriend escalated into an assault. He was fined RM800 by the Magistrates Court in Batu Pahat, Johor, after admitting to slapping his girlfriend during an argument over a WhatsApp message.

The incident took place last Thursday when the girlfriend, frustrated by Muhamad's failure to reply to her "Good morning, sayang" message, confronted him at his workplace. According to Buletin TV3, the altercation occurred at a pet shop on Jalan Parit Bilal at around 12:15 pm on October 10.

In court, it was revealed that the girlfriend had visited Muhamad at his workplace, bringing him lunch. However, her disappointment over his unresponsiveness led to a heated argument. During the confrontation, Muhamad lost his temper and slapped her on the left cheek, leaving her with minor injuries.

Following the incident, the girlfriend sought medical treatment at Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital and later lodged a police report at the Batu Pahat District Police Headquarters. Muhamad was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of one year in prison or a fine of up to RM2,000.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Farah Wahidah Mohd Sharip led the case against Muhamad, while lawyer Mohd Razak Shariff represented the accused. Muhamad was ultimately fined RM800 for his actions.
