As we are resting comfortably at home where some are given chance to take a break from work, there are others who are out there risking their lives so that things can return to normal as soon as possible. These heroes are none other than our healthcare workers. They are working tirelessly day and night since the beginning of the outbreak to save lives. That is why the last thing we want to hear is the medical staff themselves get infected while battling the virus.
Unfortunately, staff from Hospital Teluk Intan (HTI) have tested positive for Covid-19 today. The news has been confirmed by the Health Ministry.
In a Facebook post, Health Director-General Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham mentioned that some medical workers from HTI have contracted the virus, without mentioning the exact number of infected staff. However, safety and preventive measures were taken immediately by the hospital, he added.

“The HTI management has taken strict control action with the assistance of the Hilir Perak District Health Office, with preventive measures to minimize exposure to hospital staff being the main activity since the first case of Covid-19 positive infection was identified,” he said in the statement, as reported by Malay Mail.
In the same statement, Dr. Noor Hisham also urged the public to NOT simply spread any unconfirmed news as it could cause panic to others. This is due to a viral post on social media that says the operation at HTI collapsed when 6 of its staff have been infected.
We want to remind all our readers once more that things are already bad enough for our front liners, especially the medical staff. So, please. Stay home, be patient, and do not share any fake news. This is the least we can do for them.
