Surgical Masks Washed Up On Sydney Beach After Transportation Failure

Due to the bad weather, 40 containers crashed into the sea from a cargo ship. Another 74 containers were damaged.

The dropped containers carried various items such as household appliances, construction materials, medical supplies, and others. 

Surgical masks and wreckage were washed onto the eastern beaches of Sydney. The staff was cleaning up.

According to the officials of the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA), the cargo ship departed from China on May 11. 

It was in an accident on the way to Melbourne. The incident occurred about 73 kilometers southeast of the Sydney coast around 6 am local time.

Presently, the cargo ship is safely docked in the port of Brisbane, and the AMSA will investigate to confirm whether the containers are properly placed and fixed, and investigate whether there are any potential violations of environmental pollution regulations.
