Beginning Jan. 7, flood-hit households shall receive RM500 worth of instant rebate vouchers to alleviate their financial burdens.
In an announcement made by the Energy and Natural Resources Minister, Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan today (Dec. 30), the rebate falls under the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (Seda)- channeled through its Sustainability Achieved via Energy Efficiency (Save) programme.
The benefit will enable eligible recipients to purchase essential electrical products at 1,400 registered shops, supermarkets and even e-commerce sites like Shopee, Lazada and PGMall.
Takiyuddin added that there are now 80,000 qualified households. Plans are also underway to increase the number of outlets and e-commerce platforms for the convenience of flood victims.
He also noted that Seda will hold a press conference on Jan. 7 to elaborate details on the rebate.
