Fake news alert! Netizens can now breathe a sigh of relief after it's confirmed that no trace of "pig DNA" was found in the frozen squid rings.

The refute was made known to the public following allegations on social media that the squid rings were instead "pig intestines mixed with squid flavour".

Luckily, a thorough probe conducted by the Department of Fisheries (DOF) on Mar. 16 proved otherwise.

According to Deputy Director-General Mohd Sufian Sulaiman, he strongly assured that the marketed seafood in Malaysia- including those imported- have been ensured free of prohibited contents.
