A kind deed by a Rapid Penang bus driverwhom passengers have lovingly dubbed "Captain Surendran"has drawn praise and adoration from online users on social media.
Inspired by the driver's kindness, a female passenger shared her experience on Facebook.
On March 20, Ms. Cecilia shared a 0.56-second video of Captain Surendran's excellent help and care for a Person with Disabilities (PwD) on his bus on the Penang Indian Networks Facebook page.
She commented, "I want to express my appreciation to the bus driver, Mr. Surendran," alongside the footage. "His commitment in delivering the best service possible deserves praise."
In the video, Captain Surendran could be seen helping a wheelchair-bound customer get off the bus and then manoeuvre it across the street.
The deed of compassion was not overlooked; in fact, Ms. Cecilia highlighted it to encourage others.
"Attached is the video which I recorded to show just how hardworking, responsible, and professional he is," she stated.
Netizens expressed their gratitude and respect for Captain Surendran's selflessness as soon as the message gathered popularity.
"I had assumed that this type of service was limited to Singapore buses. Fantastic work, Captain Surendran. You've led by excellent example. "May God bless you," posted a user on the internet with the username Yen Yen.
In agreement, Pbs PL Wong commended Captain Surendran for his generosity and compassion. "You are very amazing and unique. You are prepared to put in the time and effort necessary to help those in need. "You deserve it, Bus Captain!"
"Thanks for giving such a wonderful service," Eric Chow said in gratitude for the excellent service. Thank you for being so kind to our community."
Facebook user Faizal Zakaria said, "Congratulations and very good of you, Captain," in response to the huge outpouring of support. You are a wonderful representative of our nation.
More than 6,400 people have liked the post and its accompanying video as of March 25. It had also received 460 comments and over 138,000 views.
