A grim discovery was made in Sungai Abong after a foul odor reported by a concerned neighbor led police to a house where two family members with disabilities were found dead, and a third was discovered in a weak and malnourished condition.
According to The Star, Muar OCPD Assistant Commissioner Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz confirmed that the deceased are believed to be a father and son, aged 76 and 37 respectively. The bodies were found inside their residence during an inspection conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday (August 23), following the report of a strong, foul smell emanating from the house.
In addition to the two deceased men, a 44-year-old woman, also identified as having disabilities and believed to be the daughter of the older man, was found alive but in a severely weakened state. She was found in a weak and malnourished state, likely due to several days of starvation, said ACP Raiz in a statement released on Saturday (August 24).
The bodies of the two men have been sent to Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital for post-mortem examinations, while the woman is currently receiving medical treatment.
ACP Raiz urged the public not to speculate on the incident and encouraged vigilance within the community. The case has been classified as a Sudden Death Report (SDR), and investigations are ongoing.
This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of community awareness and intervention in preventing such unfortunate occurrences.
