You know what they say about Malaysians— you‘re not really angry until you start cursing in Malay.
"Political donations are allowed, vaccine donations are not allowed. Kepala otak dia!"
The federal government Perikatan Nasional has rejected two million Covid-19 vaccine donations from an international private company that was meant to be administered to the state of Penang, which led to Lim Guan Eng's explosive criticism towards the federal government.
Penang was in line to receive vaccine donations from one of China's private companies as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) program, which unfortunately fell through as it was rejected by PN.
The reason?
The government's plans of its own Covid-19 immunization program are already in motion, therefore the rejection was on account of redundancy.
According to Guan Eng, this could save many lives and urges the state government to proceed with the vaccine. As of now, Penang's state government is still awaiting second approval of the donation, as it is still open.
