Editor‘s Review: I‘ve Tried Fenty Skin’s Best Selling Products, And Here’s What I Think

02-Aug-2021
By GMYP

I personally dread it when online reviewers spend too much time on their introduction... like, "Get to the point already!". So, we‘re going to avoid that today. Let‘s jump right into the reason you‘ve clicked on this article in the first place, shall we?

Fenty Skin products I'll be reviewing:

1. Fenty Beauty's Instant Reset Overnight Recovery Gel Cream | 50 ML

2. Butta Drop Whipped Oil Body Cream | 200 ML

3. Hydra Vizor Invisible Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen Moisturizer | 50ml

I have been privileged to be given these products by the Fenty Beauty team to test out, and my thirteen-year-old self who always dreamed to become somewhat an influencer was instantly re-lived once I got these! Anyway, yes, back to the point. I've been testing all three of these Fenty Skin products for about a week, and here are my no-cap, honest reviews:

• Fenty Beauty's Instant Reset Overnight Recovery Gel Cream | 50 ML

Texture: 5/5 stars

Packaging: 5/5 stars

Smell: 3/5 stars

This moisturizer from Fenty Beauty is convenience in a bottle— if packaging was a category in the beauty Olympic, this one's worthy of a gold medal. As a combination skinned gal, I appreciate the ample moisture that gel creams typically give my skin, without making it look like I could fry an egg with just the oil on my face alone.  Fenty Skin's Instant Reset Overnight Recovery Gel Cream has a bouncy texture that reminds me of well-whipped custard— a yummy dessert for my skin. it absorbs well and doesn't leave a flimsy residue, which I love. If you're one to be extra sensitive about fragrances, this gel cream could possibly throw you off a little as it could be overpowering.

• Butta Drop Whipped Oil Body Cream | 200 ML

I can never skip putting on lotions after every shower, and the thing with experimenting with different kinds of body lotions is you tend to quickly determine which kind of texture to avoid when you're buying a new one next. Nobody likes a lotion that stays on your skin and the sticky lingering feeling that simply won't come off. That being said, Fenty Skin's  Butta Drop Whipped Oil Body Cream is among the best texture in a lotion I've tried. True to its name, it does feel like butter and it doesn't take long for it to be absorbed into your skin once you rub it in. Really, you'd be surprised.

I like that the thickness of the texture is thick yet blendable enough for my skin— and I tried putting on clothes right after applying and it did not feel sticky at all, which I was pleasantly surprised with. My only complaint would be the price: RM 178 for a 200 ML of body lotion ain't cheap. As for the packaging, I'd have preferred that it came in a tube or a nozzle, but I don't mind it as much. It smells similar to Fenty Skin's Instant Reset Overnight Recovery Gel Cream, just a bit mild.

• Hydra Vizor Invisible Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen Moisturizer |  50 ML

First of all, any sunscreen labeled "Broad Spectrum" on it deserves a five-star score in my book. Let's first talk about the revolutionary packaging in this sunscreen; I adore how everything can be done in just a twist, and I'm not going to lie— the sleek feel of the bottle alone makes my skincare routine feels a little extra and luxurious. Upon application, it does leave a white cast but it goes away once everything is blended (see above picture). Overall, no complaints about the sunscreen, although it did make my skin oily throughout the day, then again most sunscreens have that effect on me. (side note: I'm combination to oily on most days.)

I personally wouldn't mind splurging on sunscreen as it is our skin's best defense against aging and the best thing about Fenty Skin products, I find, is that you only need to buy them once— once you run out, you'll only need to purchase the refills.

The Verdict?

Overall, I've had quite a pleasant experience testing all three products— the gel cream and the sunscreen didn't break me out (even though I skipped on the patch test, oops.) and the body cream applies like a dream. I'd say get all three, but if I had to choose only one among these three products to try if you've never bought Fenty Skin before, I'd suggest the Butta Drop Whipped Oil Body Cream. For the love of god, please try this.

That concludes my review, and I hope it helps!
