Following the official launch of Section 5A: Raub Bypass of the Lingkaran Tengah Utama (LTU) Highway on March 8, 2024, the route back home for Raya may be smoother this year.
Bernama claims that the highway link will save travel time from the East Coast Highway (LPT) to Kuala Lipis without requiring a diversion through the towns of Raub and Bentong. Travellers will save two hours of journey time and just need 30 minutes since the new road has become accessible.
According to Minister of Works Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, the installation of traffic lights at the intersection should result in fewer traffic accidents.
Furthermore, it is anticipated that the new road will save visitors money and ease traffic on the current Jalan Persekutuan, particularly during rush hours, holiday seasons, and school breaks.
Section 5A: Raub Bypass is 9.6 km long overall. The new route's 6.4 km and 600 m was accessible since June 25, 2023, making the total length of the route that is currently open 7 km. The remaining 2.6km is scheduled to be completed in June 2024.
