It is common for parents to educate and supervise their children to do their homework. However, it is unexpected that a boy was scolded by his father for not finishing his homework. In a fit of rage, he called the police to report that his father was hiding drugs at home!
According to The Paper and Jiangsu News, on January 9, 2025, a fifth-grade boy in Yinchuan, Ningxia, China was severely criticized by his father for not finishing his homework.
The boy was filled with grievance and anger. He ran out of the house and borrowed a mobile phone from a store to call the police, reporting that his father was hiding drugs at home.
After receiving the report, the police rushed to the scene and seriously asked the 10-year-old boy about the details. He cried and told everything he knew.
The police then sent the boy home and searched the house, finally finding eight poppy shells in the wall cabinet on the balcony.
The boy's father later claimed that he had hidden poppy shells for medical treatment. He did not expect that he had violated the law in his momentary confusion and caused such a strong reaction from his son.
At present, the police have handed over the clue to the Anti-Drug Brigade and the case is under further investigation.
According to reports, Article 71 of the "Public Security Administration Punishment Law" stipulates that illegal transportation, sale, storage, and use of small amounts of poppy shells shall be subject to detention of not less than 10 days and not more than 15 days, and may be fined not more than RMB 3,000 (about RM1,850); for less serious circumstances, detention of not more than 5 days or a fine of not more than RMB 500 (about RM310) shall be imposed
Although opium poppy has value in making medicine and producing poppy seeds for food, it also has the risk of being used as a drug, so some countries ban the cultivation of opium poppy.
