1. Staying up late

Staying up late could bring a lot of negative effects such as fatigue and dark circles under the eyes. Besides, staying up late can delay the maintenance and regeneration of the stomach lining. It can cause gastritis and gastric ulcers in the long run.

2. Eating hot meals

Some people believe food tastes best when it is served hot. In fact, the high temperature of the food could damage the lining of the stomach. Frequent stimulation by the hot food on the stomach lining might induce severe damage to the stomach cells and lead to gastric cancer.


3. Eating salty food frequently

Eating foods with high sugar, salt and spicy content can disrupt the permeability of gastric content and weaken the protective effects of the stomach lining. It can lead to the development of chronic gastritis which is a prelude to the disease. In severe cases, it can lead to stomach ulcers.

4. Frequent consumption of fried, pickled or cured foods

Fried, pickled or cured food tastes good to some extent. However, we cannot ignore the hidden dangers of these foods. Studies show nitrites and nitrates present in these foods, and there is acrylamide found in fried foods. If you consume these foods that contain the mentioned carcinogens frequently, you are at high risk to develop gastric cancer.


5. Eating fast

People nowadays tend to finish their meals very fast when they are in a hurry. Eating fast could cause unpleasant indigestion and damage the lining of the digestive tracts. It could result in the development of chronic gastritis.

6. Smoking and drinking alcohol

Smoking and drinking alcohol for a long time could harm our body health. The alcohol can destruct the lining of the stomach and lead to inflammation. On the other hand, the nicotine in cigarettes can diffuse into bloodstream and impair the repair of the stomach lining.

7. Irregular meal timings

Most people tend to ignore the importance of eating on time. Some people even think it does not matter if they skip meals once in a while. In reality, statistics show that there is a higher risk of 1.3 fold for people who practise irregular meal routine to develop gastric cancer as compared to ordinary people. Hence, try to set a regular meal routine to protect your stomach.
