JAKARTA – A couple who impulsively dug out the eyes of their own child, are believed to be studying the teachings of black magic, the Merdeka.com website reported yesterday.
In fact, the couple wasalso helped by the victim's grandmother, grandfather and uncle.
As a result of the act, the victim, who was a six-year-old girl, had to be rushed to Syech Yusuf Hospital after her eyes were badly injured and she almost went blind.
Citing a report from Liputan6.com station, the victim's other uncle known as Bayu said that at the time of the incident, he had entered the victim's house and heard the victim screaming loudly.
Bayu then saw the victim's mother and father trying to gouge out their daughter's eyes while the victim's grandparents and uncle were holding her body.
According to Bayu, they did so because they were studying black magic with the aim of gaining wealth.
The act caught the attention of netizens on social media who were generally angry with the actions of the victim's parents.
"Hopefully, the victim's vision will recover. I can't imagine the pain the child went through," wrote a netizen.
"It is very sad. A family that is supposed to be a place for children to take refuge is even endangering them. Hopefully, after recovering, the victim will have a good environment and people who love him,” wrote another netizen.
