An elderly woman Ipoh was found dead with stab wounds to the neck believed to have been murdered by her mentally-ill nephew in a horrific incident in Kampung Cina near Menglembu.
The victim, Aw Foong Meng, 73, was found lying down, covered in blood by the side of the bed in a room inside her house. Ipoh District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Yahaya Hassan said they received information about the woman and rushed to the scene.
"We found that there were stab wounds to the neck with a weapon in the form of a knife still stabbed in the back of the woman's neck.“ He added. "Following that, we arrested a 40-year-old man who is also the victim's nephew with whom the victim was living,".
According to Yahaya Hassan, the motive and cause of the incident are still under police investigation, including the examination of the suspect's medical records and mental health.
Meanwhile, the victim's neighbor, A. Lingam, 37, said the suspect has been living with the woman for several months and that over the past few days, the suspect claimed that some dangerous individuals were trying to kill him. "The suspect kept to himself most of the time and was always quiet whenever they'd meet." He added. "However, he recently told me someone came to beat him up and kill him."
The case is currently investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
