GEORGETOWN: A woman was found dead with cuts on her chest, neck, abdomen and ears on the third floor of Apartment Sri Nipah, Sungai Nibong, here, last night.
In the incident, police also found a rope and two meat cleavers near the victim.
Northeast District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Soffian Santong, said earlier, they received information regarding the incident at about 11.30 pm from a Bangladeshi man who lived in the house.
He said the man claimed to have found the victim motionless and covered in blood in the room before contacting the police.
"Examination found that the victim had died with cuts on the chest, abdomen and ears as well as 13 centimeters (cm) long slit on the neck.
“Also found were two knives, one of which had traces of blood and was suspected to have been used during the incident.

"We also found the rope and believe that the victim was tied based on the bruises on her legs and arms," he said here today.
Commenting further, Soffian said, the inspection found that the house had three rooms rented by three Bangladeshi men.
He said the witness claimed to have heard an argument between the victim and a man at about 7.30am yesterday before finding the victim motionless after returning from work at 11.30pm.
"Through several documents and copies of passports found,it is understood that the 45-year-old victim is from Indonesia, but the identity will be confirmed after the autopsy is done.
"Based on the condition of the body, the victim is believed to have died within 24 hours," he said.
Following that, the police arrested two men who lived in the house to assist in the investigation apart from tracking down another suspect who fled.
"The 37-year-old suspect worked as a construction worker and police are still investigating the man's relationship with the victim.
"The victim's body was taken to the Penang Hospital (HPP) and the case is being investigated according to Section 302 of the Penal Code," he said.
