Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has recently announced that the victims of the recent flood in Terengganu and Kelantan will be receiving financial assistance of up to RM10,000 to each family affected.
According to him, the assistance will cover the contribution for the purchase of essential goods amounting to RM2,500, vehicle repair discounts, rebate for the purchase of electrical goods of RM500, and home repair assistance for damage caused by the disaster. He also added that the aid announced is similar to what has been given when the first wave of floods hit Terengganu and Kelantan previously.
"When accumulated, all of the financial aids combined is estimated at about RM10K per family," Datuk Ismail Sabri concluded when interviewed during his visit to the temporary evacuation center (PPS) at Kampung Batu 23 today.
There are currently 272 victims from 76 families housed in the PPS, which is only a small fraction of the total 17,000 victims throughout both states, with Kemaman recording the highest number of victims.
