Malaysia is expected to enter the endemic phase by end of October, says the newly appointed Minister of Health, Khairy Jamaluddin.
As the country is nearly reaching its target to reach 80% herd immunity by end of 2021, Malaysians may need to learn to co-exist with the virus. “If you look at the cases in Labuan and, to a lesser extent, Sarawak, they are already in an endemic phase. I can say that by the end of October, we will reach the endemic phase where we start living with the virus,”, he added.
The health ministry will be working on simplifying the existing SOP measures as Malaysians adjust to the new endemic phase, where new norms will thus be implemented and introduced.
We're guessing it's time to accept that the coronavirus will be a permanent residence in our lives, no?
