The Health Minister has refuted claims whereby herd immunity can be attained by intentionally contracting oneself with the Omicron variant. In a stern warning issued by Khairy Jamaluddin, he emphasized that the method has never been scientifically proven.
Khairy's warning came after the South African virologists implied that the variant's high transmissibility can build herd immunity.
While he did note that Omicron has lower mortality rates compared to Delta, no sane person should ever risk contracting the virus. The reason being that the underlying effects during and post-Covid are still up in the air.
He also urged the public to get booster shots for better protection. Despite the wave of Omicron-related cases in the country, Khairy assured that the situation is under control.
